As we make headway into 2015, more emphasis is being placed on business sustainability, as companies begin to realise its importance in long-term profitability and the procurement of new customers.
Business sustainability, often defined as the management of a triple bottom line; i.e. the process used by companies to manage their financial, social and environmental risks, obligations and opportunities (commonly referred to as “profits, people and planet”), covers a wide range of elements, with best practices including; stakeholder engagement, environmental management systems, reporting and disclosure and life cycle analysis.
In a recent article, Co-operative News outlined how sustainability has become a core part of the values behind the Co-operative business model, with viewpoints from leaders across the sector on possible developments in 2015.
