According to The Law Society Gazette, the government has taken a small step towards the abolishment of the wet signature in official transactions – and perhaps even the ritual of having to produce a passport and utility bill whenever we enter into a new commercial relationship.
Following a recent announcement, a new service – Gov.uk Verify – is set to become available for public use, forming part of the Cabinet Office’s efforts to make government services available over the web – an ongoing process labelled as the “digital by default” programme.
